MEET THE STAFF
Staff - KEITH BARKLEYEngineer, Producer, Musician
Keith has been around Gospel music all of his life. He has shared the stage with the best of the best, and if there is one thing that he has learned, it is that no matter how great you are “on stage” you need to have a great project to reinforce your image. Not only that, if people need to hear your project before they will schedule you in their venue, then it has to be the best it can possibly be.
At age 4, God gave Keith the gift and desire to play piano. In second and third grade He took some rudimental piano lessons. However, due to the ear God gave him, it became clear to his parents that a different direction needed to be taken. He continued playing by ear for the next several years, finally attending Gospel music schools such as Cumberland Valley School of Music and Charles Novell’s Christian Music Conference. This was definitely a step in the right direction. Even though his family had been traveling for several years and working with some of the biggest names in Southern Gospel music, he still needed coaching on his vocal and musician skills. By this time, Keith was not only playing piano, but bass guitar as well. Mentors he called his teachers, soon became friends. People such as Anthony Burger, James Rainey, Ivan Parker, The Bishops, The Nelons, and many others.
Wanting to know more about the production end of music ministry, Keith found himself trying to find out anything and everything he could learn about music production and recording. Any time he was in the studio, he could be found behind the console watching and learning from the engineers and producers. Keith has been “accused” by several people of having an ear as big as Texas. When it comes to hearing harmony parts, intricate melody lines, and instrumental passes, he hears the patterns. This is what helps make a good, sound, solid recording project. Paying attention to detail is very important. However, Keith is very aware that the most important part of the recording process is making sure that the anointing of the Holy Spirit is resting upon each note.
Keith has played piano for 33 years, singing for about the same amount of time, playing bass guitar for 25 years, and traveling in music ministry for 28 years.
He views each new project as an opportunity to use the gifts that God has given him. He treats each project as if it were one of his own. By being in music ministry and evangelism himself, he understands the need to have top quality recordings.
